Today's the Day!! All of the months of preparation and anticipation are becoming a reality!! Today our entire team will fly to Toronto, meet up and spend the night there, and then catch our long flight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia tomorrow morning. We won't arrive in Ethiopia until early Friday morning (late Thursday night US time). There is an 8 hour time change for all of us on EST, 11 hour time change for Kellie! We will definitely be feeling the jet lag.
Thank you for your prayers! Keep them coming!! Please pray for safety and health as we travel and that God would be preparing us for the task ahead:)

Ten Days til Departure
Our team of ten will be departing for Ethiopia in ten days!! This trip has been seven months in the making. It all began with discussions with my dear friend, Kellie. We both had a strong desire to go and serve but didn't know when or where. Of course that's when God sends a sign...an email from our adoption agency (America World) about their ACT mission trips. ACT ministers to orphans around the world and the best news (for me) is that children aged five and over can be part of the team, meaning Will can go! I then felt a little tug on my heart to not only return to Ethiopia but to try to recruit and lead a team there. Ethiopia holds such a special place in my heart. I am so excited to share this beautiful country with others!
I have seen God work in so many ways already. He put this team together...creating a desire in each of their hearts to serve orphans. We have an amazing group of women and a few children. I am thrilled to serve along side them. He moved people to give funds, supplies and prayers. I already have over 200 pounds of donations packed with more coming in daily! People I have never met have sent me supplies to take for the children of Ethiopia!
What's in store for our team? You will have to continue following us to see:) We will be spending time in several orphanages in the Addis area, celebrating Christmas at the America World transition home, spending a day with our Compassion sponsored children and so much more! Yes, I did say Christmas...we get to celebrate Christmas twice! Orthodox Christmas is January 7th. We will be using this blog to let our friends and family members know how we are doing, give updates on our time in Ethiopia and encourage prayer for our team and work!
For now, we would appreciate your prayers! Please pray for health...of course for while we are traveling but also now. With all of the influenza, colds and other bugs running rampant across the country, please pray that our team members and our family members will be healthy as we depart. It is hard enough for a mom to leave her husband and kids behind when everyone is healthy and all is well. When you throw sickness into the picture it starts to cause doubt and guilt that we shouldn't go. This doubt and guilt is not from God. He called us to this mission and He will provide for us and our loved ones! Pray for us all to feel His peace that we are following His call! Prayers for our families that they would do well in our absence and be an encouragement! Please pray as we prepare ourselves for this journey. We will see and experience so much. We will be out of our comfort zones and not knowing how to process everything. Please pray that we will see what God is trying to show each one of us and understand what He is trying to teach us. Pray for safety. Pray for the people we will encounter...that they will see His light in us and feel His love through us!
THANK YOU! We can not do this alone.
